This blog began with little stories about my kids and the funny and interesting things they say. But since I started it, life has taken me on some unexpected paths with my entire family. It's now about us.
The Family
“The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.”

Morning people vs night owls
Caroline likes to go to bed early, always has, even as a tiny baby. Addison has always wanted to stay up late and sleep in. Addison is not a morning person.
Caroline had the day off from school, and of course, she woke up at 6:45am even though on a school day I am forced to drag her out of bed by 7:20am. So Caroline is busy playing while I cuddle my cup of coffee on the couch and surf the mornings news. About 8:30 or so, Addison comes out into the family room, pauses by the couch on her way down the hall to give me a "I'm up, but I'm not awake" look. Caroline comes up the hallway and cheerfully asks "hey Addie, wanna play dressup?" Addison replies, very seriously, (and I quote) "I need a moment". She then proceeds down the hall, to the bathroom and shuts the door behind her.
I can't imagine where she gets it from ;)
